February & March
January has been a very busy month for our classroom! We have been working on rhyming words and poetry, colour identification, matching and sorting, creating a scrapbook for every letter of the alphabet, and focusing on communication and device use during every part of our day. Our students loved the Philharmonic performance as well. Over the next few months, we are excited to be exploring all the different cultures within our class as well as Sarah's class. During our Thursday large group learning time we will be highlighting a culture and their traditions, arts and crafts, music and associated food.
November, December & January
Halloween was very exciting for our classroom. In October, we learned a lot about spiders and their needs as well as their life cycle. During the rest of this term, our classroom will be focusing our math learning on measurement as well as being able to identify our feelings and connecting them to the Zones of Regulation to learn how to stay in a focused, calm and learning state. In the New Year, we will turn to working on poetry, the science of mixing colours and identifying the parts of a story.
September & October
This year we are thrilled to welcome Matei, Emmett, Miranda, Elias, Alisar, Aisha, Solomon and Matias to my room! We also welcome our EA staff Kim, Shar and Gabby. During the first few months of the school year, our learning will focus on our classroom community, taking care of ourselves and our emotions, and building a connection with the land through land-based learning. We will also be having some amazing learning opportunities with Sarah's class next door for large group art and science. During the course of the year, the students will also learn various ways to reflect on their week at school, observe and reflect on the sights, sounds and objects in their environment.
