February & March
Our students are working hard and are learning a lot about letters and numbers. We have a special friendship developing and we welcomed a new student, Stone, to our class. We always have fun and we play a lot! Exercising everyday helps us to grow strong. Every day is an adventure as the students explore new and familiar interests.
November, December & January
We are having a great year so far! We have been busy exploring the changing of the seasons, our feelings, how we can move our bodies, and Indigenous ways of being and knowing. We have incorporated various strands of curriculum through various means. The English Language Arts has been addressed by the students learning that books have a front and back cover and that words are made up of letters. We have learned that one printed word represents one spoken word when read aloud, that letters represent sounds in words, and that letters can be upper case or lower case. The Mathematics curriculum has been incorporated by students learning that quantity can be determined by counting and that comparisons of quantity can be described by using words such as more, less, same or different. This knowledge will be continually reinforced throughout the school year. Soon we will start a unit on where we live, which will entail learning about community places and whom you would can find there. This idea is taken from the Social Studies curriculum. Students will explore that places have a meaning for people and that a variety of places can be part of a community (playgrounds, police stations, hospitals, parks, etc.), as well as the many leadership roles in communities. Let’s keep having fun every day!

Making new friendships, learning about each other's strengthens and reflecting on how we can develop these skills will help us head in the right direction. So far, the students have enjoyed exploring the school's many engaging environments and have been happy. They love learning through songs and stories and playing with a range of materials. We will get stronger and become the best communicators that we can! Let's go play!
