February & March

Hi families! We look forward to exploring different curricular strands during our literacy time! We have already began looking at parts of speech with a focus on verbs. We went through the stories we have read and picked out all the verbs that we could find. We are going to build on this knowledge and look at adverbs, adjectives, and nouns in the stories we read together. For math we are still learning all about quantity to 10. We have made a list on ways we can represent numbers, and have been actively exploring each way, such as 10 frame, numerals, and tally marks. Coming up after our quantity unit we will be diving into measurement! This will be fun as we will measure each student to see how tall they are! Please remember to check your email at the end of each week for our classroom's weekly update that will let you know what we did, what we are going to do, any reminders, and of course some pictures. We hope you enjoy reading and seeing all the learning going on in our class.

November, December & January

The colder weather is here! Thank you to everyone for sending your kiddos in bundled up and ready for the cold. Having gotten to know each student over the last couple of months, the growth and progress of each student continues to improve. Our class is settling into daily routines and expectations well. Over the next couple of months, we will be focusing on shapes as a cross-curricular unit. We will be incorporating shapes into our read-aloud stories, math explorations, art, and science with cooking. We look forward to our upcoming learning opportunities with the students!

September & October

Welcome back to school for those returning to our class and welcome to our classroom our five new students! We are excited to get to learn more about our new friends and how our returning friends have grown through the summer break. We have a busy year ahead of us working on our communication, our gross and fine motor skills, as well as exploring different aspects of the curriculum while incorporating Indigenous Ways of Knowing. We look forward to meeting with parents/guardians during Student Learning Conferences in September!
